Hello hello! I’m trying to cope by thinking that there is no set deadline for when I post these things.
Anyways!
Life lately
I did get a job!! I started my new job about a couple weeks into April and, while the role is pretty familiar to what I’ve done before, I’ve just spent the first few months adjusting to a new routine and the company’s workflow and processes. I think these first few months I was a bit hard on myself but somewhere towards July, I realized I’m not giving myself enough time to adjust. Like I’ve only been here a few months!! The reason I felt so settled in my previous job is exactly because I’ve been there for years. So yeah, I’m giving myself time and if it means I’ll do minor mistakes along the way, that’s okay too. That just means they’re lessons to learn and ways to improve my own routine in this company.
Outside of my new job, I’ve also been doing a lot of new side quests these past few months. I enrolled for a few adult swimming lessons and learned the basics, I tried pilates for the first time and found it fun!! These two side quests in particular made me realize how out of shape my body truly is. I have a couple of things I’d like to improve but I’m being very gradual and taking things slow.
For highly anticipated events: I got to watch Mitski for the first time and had a far better look at XG this time around!! I already attended their first concert in Manila a couple years ago and it was already such a fun concert. I can’t believe they successfully upped the ante this year and made things even bigger and better!

Media lately
This quarter hasn’t been as intense as the last one in terms of my media consumption. I didn’t read as much books after hitting my reading goal this year nor did I watch as much TV shows or anime. For books, my main highlight of the quarter was reading Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater which was such an endearing and fun read!! I was also able to read the novella, The Lord Sorcier from the same universe. I’m very excited to read the second series–which I already have on hold on Libby–as it will feature a new main character that’s related to our two lovely main characters in the first book. Also with my Libby access, I was able to finish BL Metamorphosis this quarter! This is a really good slice of life, you guys. And it made me think about the kind of life I want to have for myself — an ongoing theme I will be having for the rest of the year, I think.
For TV shows, I breezed through The Gilded Age within a month or so and I’m planning on rewatching it ahead of season 4 coming out in November 1! Witch Hat Atelier was, of course, the highlight of my anime watching this quarter and it was so so good from start to finish!! I’m on the court of willing to wait a couple years or so if it meant season 2 will also have the same level (if not better!) quality.

In terms of movies, there were a lot of rewatches I did this quarter. I started my Miyazaki marathon running for the rest of the year, starting with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and ending the quarter with My Neighbor Totoro. I also rewatched Sense and Sensibility (1995) since it was available to watch on Netflix! The only two new movies I watched were… okay, so I don’t really want to talk about them.
Music-wise, you will see that I added a lot of songs that are up my alley. Fun maximalist music production that either bring out the best of its genre to me (think Slayyyter’s $t Loser and Donna Summer’s I Feel Love) or transcend it (think Dirty Harry by Gorillaz feat Bootie Brown and RUNWAY by Lady Gaga and Doechii).
Creating lately
My creative channel this past quarter has gone down to solely my art journal. And even then, there have been days when I haven’t picked it up. I try to have some sit down sessions when I’m free to catch up on the days I missed but wanted to memory keep but I also admit that wasn’t my intention for keeping an art journal in the first place.
I have a lot of that recently, by the way. Being honest with myself with where I’m slacking off with the goals and intentions I had set for myself this year. I’m trying not to be too hard on myself but also realize a firm mental nudge occasionally is truly needed.
Here’s to a third quarter where I can finally set some pace.
